A First Journal

Dear Journal,

My name is Becca. I am going to junior high next year and am very excited. My goals for next year are to study harder, do better on homework, get involved, be organized, get better grades and have fun.

I do think junior high will be a lot of fun. A new building, people and teachers. It is such a big building! We even get our own, personal lockers! An auditorium and a snack bar with chips and ice-cream!

I hope I will achieve my goals. It is only a week and a day until we get our new house, and two cats! And is our new house I get my own room and we get a dance room. I am always dreaming of school and our house. Even though it is summer vacation I sometimes wish I could go to school now.

Grandma said today, “Well, rats don’t have brains.” I was shocked. Of course rats have brains! Why do you think they squeak? Because a message is sent to their brain to tell them they are hurting. Lucky knows a trick because of brains. Other than squirrels, rats are the smartest rodents.

Tonight Becky is taking me to see a play. It will be very fun I think.
